Exploring the Fungus Among Us

Info, Tips, Tours, Photos & More

If you are a fungi fan, then you've come to the right place, because so do I. My name is Kris and I'm the Fun Guy with a passion for fungi. I've been taking fungi photos and exploring the world of fungi for decades. Mostly, I have been enthralled by the mythology behind the Amanita, the most distinguished and recognizable mushroom around, especially here in the Pacific Northwest. It's a shame that they have such a bad reputation, because they are a crazy and mysterious, magical mushroom. Almost everywhere you look you'll find it stated that they're poison and that great danger exists for those who partake in the sacramental Amanita. Well, the active chemical, muscimol is a GABA agonist and is described as a deliriant, but its also an ancient medicine. But, let us not go there now, we revere all mushrooms here, whether GABA agonists or not. Described in these hallowed pages, I have tours I can take you on, and I have great foraging spots I will share with you. I also have a few photos I can show you too, both on-topic (of fungi) and off-topic as well. There's also a well-rounded chapter on some mushroom basics, a whole section on the majestic Amanita, a glossary, an enormous amount of articles exploring fungi, some fungi trivia and even fungi recipes! But, most importantly, we can provide you, oh dearest mushroom enthusiast, with a way to procure some dried Amanitas for your home remedies*, salves and tinctures or for other purposes as well. So kick back and enjoy yourself for a while, subscribe to our newsletter, click a few links, you're sure to find all that you want and quite possibly everything you need.
