Here's the revamped Index page.. Today is Tuesday, July 4th, 4:45pm (it's taken me an hour to get to this point but i've got all the details filled in like the music and shit) But, well what caused me to write this was that we were talking and mentioned you giving me some thought about trusting people and how its always a risk, I think this was back in maybe January. I went on a small tangent and gave you the Marley quote about "the ones worth suffering for" and left you with the beautiful one about "she". But i thought, hot damn, quotes. I've got more than a few that i really like. I'll keep this to just a few authors, but I could easily go off on a couple thousand word rant…
We should really put some emphasis on sushi and especially on touring the RV, I'm just saying.
I've always loved quotes. When I was going through my divorce, in particular the first couple months with no house, nothing but the clothes I salvaged from my front lawn and a friend willing enough to feed me because I had no money, to give me a bed, and I was feeling really down. Jeffrp helped. He also helped m e through my coming out coming of age where I realized that I was not heterosexual. He was gay and I couldn't imagine being so limited as only staying with one gender. But, I digress. (it's funny i recall at the beginning of every month, his one neighbor would well one month in the middle of the night, near when she got 'paid' she was vacuuming her front lawn at 2am. and his other neighbor for about the 1st through the 10th would stay up all night in their garage tearing things apart and coming in and out of the house with various stages of electronics in disarray) Anyway I spent a long time strolling through the various websites out there on quotes by famous people and thoughtful people and philosophers and stuff, posting them to facebook alot, because, well, I was hurt and I was looking for advice, or just any shred of anything I could grab ahold of to make sense of it all. Along they was I managed to keep a few I really liked. And, at that time, I was running the largest iPad support forum on the planet, and one of the things I was known for was my list of quotes that I had randomly shuffling through at the bottom of every email reply. And there was a lot of the replies every day. I had people who didn't need support any longer who would just stay around for the chat (one of the reasons why it got to be so large and successful was that may tech forums adopted aa s stance of no off-topic banter, to take it off-line, off the group. I had a strictly the opposite stance. We welcome off-topic banter, just label your threads with "OT:" so everyone who wanted to could use mail filters and striip them out) and to read quotes. I had a good three hundred, and boy do i wish that I still had them. Anyway, here's a few I still like.
I already shared this one with you by Bob Marley
"You may not be her first, her last or her only. She’s loved before, and she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She’s not perfect - you aren’t either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold on to her and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break - her heart. So don’t hurt her, don’t change her, don’t analyze and don’t expect more than she can give. Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad and miss her when she’s not there. "
I'll share another one along the same lines, by Richard Bach who penned Jonathan Livingston Seagull, a classic.
“A soulmate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we’re pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we’re safe in our own paradise. Our soulmate is someone who shares our deepest longings, our sense of direction. When we’re two balloons, and together our direction is up, chances are we’ve found the right person. Our soulmate is the one who makes life come to life. "
"I want to be very close to someone I respect and admire and have somebody who feels the same way about me."
"Listen to what you know instead of what you fear."
It's rare that I quote this guy but I always liked this one
"Sometimes, many times, this is how I feel; often times, I'm the only one that knows it. I've been told that if you keep making solid decisions, every day & every time, that even when life seems baffling, it'll all turn out fine & that all you gotta do is take a deep breath and keep on making solid decisions. Be strong young grasshopper. If you breathe and remain calm, the most difficult decisions will usually get made for you. Something about accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and being bright enough to know the difference and while keeping peace of mind in the midst of it all. Yea, something like that. " Yours truly
You can’t keep me down. You can’t chain me up. You can’t make me feel like the world is so fucking hard, I mean shit is broken, I know that but it ain’t that hard. It isn’t. You just gotta not think, man. You just gotta do. I think that somewhere along the way humans started to think and that’s where it all went sideways and then anxiety and depression and shit all came into being and they didn’t exist before that, humans made them up!! Man you gotta control your mind and you gotta be the fucking boss! Man if I let my mind control me I would be a fucking pitiful wreck and I am not about to fucking let that happen. It’s fucking rough to think about shit... you let your mind run and it’ll ruin you but if you just shut the fuck up, talk less and do more it’s not that fucking bad, man. Here’s the thing you know, Yoda, right? Well Yoda was the man. He said it. There is no try, there is only do. That’s the fucking key man. Don’t think. Just fucking do. Trust your instincts. Your brain is the fucking new guy on the block. We were mammals a long time before the brain evolved and yea is good and it’s smart but it lacks the experience necessary to be making all the fucking decisions!!! Book smart isn’t shit compared to the wisdom that comes from experience and that applies to your fucking brain too. Don’t let your brain Rob you of your life. Don’t let your brain control the show. Buddhists got that one right. Control your mind. Don’t let it destroy you with its wants and desires and it’s ability to always obfuscate the fucking reality that you’re in. Let go. Be happy. Follow your bliss. Fuck what they think. They aren’t you. Don’t let what the world or your parents thinks be your Demise. Be more like Yoda. Do. "
I've got more than a couple Hank (Henry Rollins, Black Flag) that I like. Here's just a couple
“I believe that one defines oneself by reinvention. To not be like your parents. To not be like your friends. To be yourself. To cut yourself out of stone.”
“Scar tissue is stronger than regular tissue. Realize the strength, move on.”
“Don't do anything by half. If you love someone, love them with all your soul. When you go to work, work your ass off. When you hate someone, hate them until it hurts.”
I really like this guy and I like this quote almost more. There's one more quote by him I have to find. By Steve Jobs
You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.
This one is by a man I respect as much as I respect life itself. Buddha.
You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection.
This one is by Lao Tzu
Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.
These are African proverbs
“In the moment of crisis, the wise build bridges, and the foolish build dams.”
“A fool has to say something. A wise person has something to say.”
The Stoic philosopher Epictetus wrote
“It is not death or pain that is to be feared, but the fear of pain or death.”
“It is not death that a man should fear, but rather he should fear never beginning to live.”
I've previously shared this one before, by Carole Guevin, PixelTable (I have no idea what PixelTable or who Carole is)
"Risk and survive. Stall and die. Jump and rise. Fail and learn. Defeat your insecurities. The unknown is not comfortable. Nothing is missing. Creativity is the sheer and pure manifestation of intelligence mixed with a high dose of imagination. Be inventive when facing delicate requests, unmanageable deadlines and unreasonable expectations. Learn to do with what you don't have and pretend you can."
I don't know who to correctly attribute this one to
“The one who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd. The one who walks alone, is likely to find himself in places no one has ever been.”
By Michael Jordan
"I've failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed."
By Oscar Wilde
"Experience is a name we give to our mistakes"
By probably one of my favorite science fiction authors of all time, Robert Heinlein
"A society that gets rid of all its troublemakers goes downhill."
And I'll leave it at that
First, My Drawings: I haven't put much into this lately. And since you haven't jumped onto it, (not because of you just that its not getting used and i can justify my money on a chatGPT4 upgrade more than I can justify the super fast reloading of points on this one. It reloads fast enough to use all 320 twice a day and I think it's really fun, but unless you speak up, I think I'm going to knock back my subscription one tier) I wanted it to be a little different but I settled with this, I was looking for a mirage in a well or lake or something and this was close.
Music, I love. I think I may have already shared the Moistboyz song, Everybody's Fucked Her, or maybe I just shared it with you. Funny thing is, I don't remember finding these guys, but I found all their albums on a hard drive of mine. I've always loved Ween, and its the same dudes, but Moistboyz is a little more out there with songs about tweakers and shit like this. And this Ween album there, with Bananas and Blow, wasn't really one that I knew of but when I heard the song, I just fell in love with it. See for a about a decade or so I fell out of music and so many things passed me by. Maybe it was longer. Anyway this album was one that came out of nowhere. The song rocks, it's really got that rum sort of swing to it. I made it so grey songs are ones I haven't spoken on, and the yellow is the current ones.
Blast from the past. I got my JM Publishing site pretty well resurrected without many hitches left. I also got my TopShelf Herb Company website up and running too, but I think it's got a few glitches. Here's those ringtones in case you wanted some, along with all the albums I put up. I thought that app that makes the album webpages is just so neat I built one along the same lines, that builds the index by itself just when another album gets added in to the mix on the fly, too. Heheh
